okay..reading through the objectives and what not, I notice where the P.L.A.V. are supposed to attack Victor first. What if my squad wants to hit Tango first? or wants to hit the smaller control points? or hit the HVT? just wondering, Joker. I don't want to get out there and do things MY way and screw it up for everyone else....well, except for that one guy...he knows who he is.....

...so basically, what you're saying is, "Don't use your brain, just your gun"?
you want to set up a simulated real world sernario, but we can't use real world tactics? we HAVE to do things this way and this way only, waiting on the "finest minds" to make a decision? And just as an aside, I posted this at Creeper's behest to get Joker's take on it, not have someone else give me Joker's take....

To qualify myself I am the head ref for the op and have studied it extensively that being said the op is set up linear. As far as the rest I have bowed out because I know all the ins and outs and am not supposed to be involved. I'm not sure who is running the plav but I do know that in my absence SDS will fall to Bradford and of course SAS is Crimsonclaw. I don't know who will be in charge of the plav as a whole I'm sure that will shake out at the op like most times.

Yeah we wanted this thread started to help clear up possible misinterpretations on the game dynamics. Yes, there ARE peeps working on BOA's battle plan as well, but this is primarily to answer questions about the game.
MY personal question: the US side will, in fact, start out INSIDE the CP at VICTOR?

Hey sparky, usually the reason for having linear objectives like this op has is to help make things simpler. In real life things would be completely different because communications would be better more than likely and numbers would be higher for each side. The way the op is set up, it allows for longer play and constant fire fights. You are by no means supposed to "don't use your brain, just shoot your gun". You will have to be creative to take heavily fortified positions and also have various squads doing various things. in real life, you probably would have squads taking multiple points at one time, but you would also have lots of planning, better communication equipment (in most cases) and no respawns lol. This setup just makes gameplay easier because everyone is on the same page for things and it is easier to do the scoring system since we only have one comm officer on each side and one ref in the middle. I understand where you are coming from and I hope this helped explain it a little better. I look forward to playing with you guys and being the PLAV comm officer!

Alright, time for Joker's take on things. While some of you can indeed "Use your guns not your heads" if the P.L.A.V. does this as a whole you WILL be destroyed pretty easily. First off this is a SIMULATION, second it is a game. As a simulation I would think that we would all agree the scale does not have to be 1:1. With that in mind I think we could say that the distance between bases is representative of miles rather than feet. So far as this being a game is concerned I would remind you guys of the last several single-day ops we've had around these parts. During many of these games players were spread across the entire field and many of them may have only fired 3 or 4 shots all day. While this may be more realistic of a military operation, would you feel as though you got your money's/time's worth if you were the guy that was assigned to defend point 6 until around 5 in the afternoon? I certainly wouldn't.
The game is set up as a progressive withdrawl of U.S. Forces across the field. While the U.S. will be in a state of withdrawl pretty much all day, that does not mean they will be doing it quietly. They will get points for holding positions for extended periods of time AND they will get a great DEAL of points if they RETAKE a control point. That means the P.L.A.V. that plays with more balls than brains and captures points on their own may end up getting quickly killed and hurting their team more than helping them.
Remember, just because you are at a flag, doesn't mean that you HAVE to capture it immediately, but you can't capture the next point until you capture the first. This means that PERSONALLY, I wouldn't capture a point until I knew I could hold it.
There are numerous ways to get to each of the bases and control points as well. Generally, apart from BASE DEFENSES there will be 3 points in play at any time. (REFER TO DIAGRAM) In these cases, you are able to flank the opposing team's respawn, but not the undefended points that are not in play.
GENERALLY, YOUR COMM OFFICER WILL TELL YOU WHAT POINTS ARE IN PLAY AT ANY GIVEN TIME.
So far as HVT's go... I would remind you of this. It is true, you can kill and "verify" HVTs anytime, but if you kill one that is not in play and call verify you have effectively limited your potential HVT points from 50 to 40. That means you will again have hurt your team more than helped them.
SEE, YOU HAVE TO USE YOUR BRAIN IN THIS GAME AS WELL AS YOUR GUN.

because of the way this game dynamic is set up, i propose one minor rule. ABSOLUTELY NO FLANKING IN THE NO GO ZONE OR OUT OF BOUNDS OR FACE LOSS OF POINTS. In previous games this has been a problem which was EXTREMELY ANNOYING. Because the points dynamic &etc as well as the intended purpose of the game i think this is a valid rule
I assumed that would go without saying, but you're right... I'll mention that

GOOD, otherwise It might be assumed allowable by some (you know who you are). this might save them excrutiating pain at the hands of a violent plav patrol of heavy gunners.
just FYI you should probably know facts before making assumptions and calling people out. it tends to be EXTREMELY ANNOYING to the people whose reputation you are ruining falsely. just FYI
