The Joker's WILD!!!

« on: October 23, 2010, 08:12:52 pm »

First, I'd like to thank each and every player that came out today!  Whether fighting for the brave P.L.A.V. or the mighty U.S. incursionary forces you all played an awesome game!  Similarly, thanks to Dynomut (my right hand man in planning and executing this event), Pops, and Cloak (who stepped up in a big way at the last second)... I couldn't have pulled this off without your help guys!

With that out of the way, I really hope you all had a great day of slinging plastic.  While I realize there was some confusion and nothing ever quite works out the way you expect it to be over all I think we broke some new ground for our events and things turned out pretty well.  That's just my opinion though, I want to hear yours!  The good, the bad, what you felt worked (or didn't) and any suggestions you might have for future events.  Lay it on me guys!  We don't grow and progress unless we figure out what we can work on... But gratuitous praise is always welcome too... I'm just saying...

It's all yours guys...

-Joker

Well, I wish I could have made it earlier, but I had a great time.  Well organized and executed (I expected no less). All-around  great Op! I'm glad that JOKER tried the arm bands as I thought it worked great.  As many of you know, I've been a proponent of armbands for some time, and I'm glad it worked as we (a few of us) expected.  Anger issues still plague the large ops, but thats by no means the fault of the host.  Great job, JOKER!!!  Thanks for taking the time and effort to organize this op!

first and formost, I had a blast. I've already spoken 1-1 with Joker on some of my thoughts.

Day started out with PLAV discussing tactics. the line of skirmish for the fort battle was initially along the creek bed. we sent a unit to flank the U.S. on thier right side. somehow the skirmish line ended up shifting 90 degrees along the U.S. Right flank. due to the fairly close equality of forces, the US were able to dig in and were entrenched so well, the PLAV could not rout them.

we broke for lunch.

the second half of the day met with several rules issues. there was some confusion on the respawn point once hamburger hill was taken. Also some confusion was had on the retakability of hamburger hill by the US.

apart from these issues, the PLAV was doing awesome. we were able to push the US back to their re-spawn point. unfortunately, we could not rout them from this location. I made it to the plywood win point as they announced the hamburger hill retake.

Other than the rules confusion of the second half, this OP went off real well.

on the armbands, I'm not sure they worked real well. i was shot by one of my own men b/c he thought he saw blue on me. (btw i got rid of the blue hydro-pack so i DON'T have blue on me now) However, some peeps didn't die b/c i saw red on them.

IMO as a second line of identification, i would say its OK. but not as a primary.

I have already apologized to dyno for my comment. BUT. I want to apologize to everyone else. Dynomut made a call on the field as REF that I disagreed with and made an inappropriate comment. I should not have done this, and will do my best to refrain from doing it in the future.

Thanks for letting us have Legacy Airsoft/Deepsouthairsoft.com present at the event.  I was able to come out and watch a bit of the first part, and I know from what I saw, everyone seemed to have a good time and the fire fight was intense at times.  The only complaints that I ever heard was the BANG BANG rule not getting executed and People with there dead rags still getting lit up.  As CREEPER said earlier, its not the ADMINS fault, but it is issues within the actual players.  Overall, like any and all events, about 25% will have issues with any given game and you couldn't have expected it to go any better than it did.

First of all I would like to thank everyone for coming out to the game. The only issues I saw I would consider miner, tempers flaring, people on both teams saying that some on the other team weren't calling hits, confusion on my part about the Plav respawn point  the second half. I apologize to Cloak and Dagger and the Plav team for not getting that strait to start with. As far as the tempers flaring it happens in this game we all love emotions run high, adrenaline gets pumping heck that's half the fun, buts it's important at the end of the day we remember that we are still playing a game for fun not for real. (Nightbringer I don't even remember what was said we are good bro) when it comes to people not calling their hits I will say this as the full time ref I was on both teams and saw it happen a few times on BOTH teams if you didn't call your hits and the next time you see me I want you to remember this is a game of honor and you calling or not calling your hits effects everyones opinion of you. Please remember if your going to keep playing these are the people you will see at most every event. I would like to especially thank Trailand,Pops, and Molonlabe I asked you to look out for my little buddy and you did no questions asked I asked you because I know the type of people you are and you proved me right. Lastly I would like to thank everyone for following the field rules I didn't have to remind anyone to keep their eye pro on all day and dem chickens where left alone.

Great job Joker, Mutt, and everyone that took part in making VE happen. I had a blast!!! Overall I believe both sides were evenly matched. US did an outstanding job communicating and using solid tactics. PLAV did outstanding shooting and moving. Yeah there might have been issues with people not calling hits or whatever but so what it was all in fun. The way I see it, if you don't want to call the hit when I shoot you, good for me because I certainly don't mind feeding your bb addiction.  I personally had the best time and appreciate everybody who came. Great job U.S. you are the proud owners of a new country!!!

P.S. Whoever took CrimsonClaw's battery, that was not cool!!!  I had plenty of batteries and would have gladly let you borrow one.  All you had to do was ask around stupid!!!  VADER has something for you perp if you dare to surface so bring it please, I'm begging you!!! \m/

Well.  Cupcake and I got there late, so we HATED the first half of the game....but after lunch was fun.  Really had a blast slinging BBs...and catching my fair share. I'm not long winded(and my spelling sucks) so I'll keep it short. I only had one issue with the entire day, and it happened at the very end.  Cupcake, myself and a couple others, were sitting at the control point on Hamburger Hill waiting to respawn. Our dead rags were on our heads and we just there, not shooting..I wasn't even holding my M4.  A few of the US guys came up from the back side of the hill and started shooting. We started waving dead rags and letting them know we were dead. The shot some more...I yelled some more. They shot SOME MORE....I lost my temper.  At this point Cupcake and I left the game.  My temper was up enough that I KNEW that if I stuck around I would say or do something stupid, so.....

If you can see me well enough to shoot me repeatedly, then you can see me waving a bright red cloth.  If you can hear your teammate yell for you to advance, you can hear me tell you to stop shooting. If you can't figure out that dead people are dead...maybe you need a hobby that doesn't require common sense...I recommend Paintball.....

Yeah i know what you mean sparky. I got shot quite a few times waving a dead rag around. those guys got me and a few others as we were walking back to base with our rags out. and same stuff back at base before the end of the game.

Before I forget, I would like to thank everyone that was able to make it by the Legacy Airsoft Booth at the event.  Hopefully we were able to instill trust amongst the players around, that we are not some strangers trying to take your money.  We are in the process of completing a bigger order here at the end of the month and hope that everyone can and are able to get what they need.  I also enjoyed getting away from Louisiana for a bit just to meet some old friends again.

Also, I'd like to thank our guys here on DSA for not making racist comments in OUR thread for the AAR..  You'd think that wouldn't be very hard to do, but apparently ELITISTS will also allow racists remarks on their AAR.... No mods bothered to step in or comment... So Thanks DSA, for not being bigots..

Ok.  Now we all know what upset us in VE.  For the most part, those same things plague us in EVERY game.  Now,  for the sake of future ops, tell us what you LIKED about OP VE and why.  Obviously we learn from your input, so spill it!!

Heres my likes:
1.armbands.  Great additional team identifier
2. Point system .  when ironed out, this is gonna rock.  Massive potential for ACTUALLY scoring an airsoft game!
3. Comm usage. Even tho I didn't run a radio, I believe the comm system used in this game could be a great model for all future ops.

Other than the stolen battery, i enjoyed the whole thing. The armbands kept me from shooting anything that moved. And i was the cause of the bang bang problem. If you are using a pistol on me, you are close enough for cqb, hence i will offer a bang bang. draw down on me, and i will open fire, regardless of range. A automatic rifle trumps a pistol most days of the week, and sent aforementioned pistol-man running for a safer place. He actually told me i was to far away to bang him out, crimson junior was right next to me, he agreed with me that he was plenty close for a bang out, but it is a courtesy thing anyway. I tried to be polite and not blister him, he just wanted to be shot i guess, so i obliged him.

FINALLY!! Thanx, Brutha CRIMSON, for putting into words my
Feelings on the matter!!!  THIS is what I've been trying to sAy all this time!!  I posted a poll to address the bang bang issue, but we let it die right there.  BANG BANG needs addressing!
