Well... i guess ill hafta open up with a negative.. i hate gas guns. Its not realy that they dont work well, but if i want to put that much effort and money into keeping them going, id buy a real gun.  Also remember youre jumping into a tiny pool when it comes to parts, moreso because its an m14 and gas. Mags arent cheap, and you have few options in the way of selection. That being said, chosing we is a plus, ive had a couple of their pistols and they are powerful and fairly reliable for gas guns. But you should also keep in mind that its supposed to he what makes you happy and gives your idea of fun.

alright, well I really want an m14, so what would be a good one to get in your opinion? I personally will take anything, its not about the gun but who and where I am playing so anything can be fun for me  Grin

Speaking from my experience, if youre not dead set on gas but your fixated on the m14, id go for the g&g, ask nyghtbringer, theyre good guns. J had the carbine socom version, and it could hang with the long barreled guys easily. G&g guns come with stock parts as good as or better than upgraded parts for other brands. Therefore id say it can handle any spring up to a pdi 260 without worry. That should, with a tightbore, put you around 480-500 fps. Thats hot enough that some fields will require you to go semi auto only. The one drawback is you hafta use g&g or ca mags, but still more choices than gas guns, and a lot less work. Drop in a 9.6v battery and you will definately bring the pain at range.

alright, If you dont mind, and you dont have to, but whenever you get some freetime, think you could link me the gun and aftermarket parts that would get it to that point? if its not to much trouble that is.  Smiley

http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=2650 this does not include a battery.

I have a G&G M14 (non socom). I love it. with .25 bbs the range is perty darn good and shoots round 340fps. its pretty accurate. i upgraded to .28 bbs and the range is somewhat diminished with 310-320 fps.

i am also running a LIPO battery.

you may also want to spend a little extra money and get a sling like this.

In my humble opinion, that M14 will make you the envy of everyone during game prep, and the envy of FEW during game PLAY.  What I mean is that unless you continue the sniper role, you will be sick knowing that you are SEVERELY outgunned by the AEGs that cost WAY less to operate!!  Considering it will cost $300+ to buy enough mags to equal ONE $20 AEG highcap, we really should start hosting games that only allow GBB guns!  The differences between gas rifles
And AEGs is truly like night and day.  We AEG users don't know what the term "ammo conservation" means, while a GBB user surely does!  Not to mention that a GBB user will most likely adhere to
Real military tactics for that same reason!  They really are like apples and oranges!  The only way I see to use both in one game is to host a "standard cap mags only" game!  That will level it out considerably,'but the AEG still has clear advantages.  For one, they are still MUCH cheaper.  Secondly, AEGs aren't Plagued by temperature fluctuation-induced problems.  Lastly, like Cloak said, there are fewer available parts and they require more maintenance.
Then there is the gas itself.  While everyone else just had to charge batteries, you'll be trying to find the gas you need and have it shipped via ground cuz it's a
HAZMAT!!   Well all gases except propane, that is.
All said and done,  they're really cool..to tinker with, plink with, and show off, but If Practicality and cost effectiveness are concerns, I'd stick with the good ol AEG!!

Another negative on GBB is the mags WILL leak so there is always that. If I where you I would go with the AEG M14 my 2 cents I think you will be happier plus the cost will be less on you.

I agree with Creeper. the only GBB gun i will ever own is my pistol. the last thing you "want" to have to do is carry a propane/gas bottle onto the field with ya. AEG or spring rifles are the way to go. if you go spring, you will def want to play the sniper role. I had one, having to bolt action it every time i wanted to fire was aggravating.

the AEG M14 allows me to have the relative range/accuracy i had with my spring sniper and NOT have to bolt action it each fire. also i can shoot for a long time with only having to reload bbs. not having to reload gas or bolt action it to fire. The benefit of the G&G M14 is that like Cloak said, the internals are already upgraded enough for me to just upgrade the spring.

I would suggest buying the G&G M14, sling, and you can get midcap mags here.

IF your getting the one i mentioned. i would strongly suggest getting the gun, sling, and a battery for it. see how you like it, then decide if you want to do any upgrades. i would also run .25 bbs to start.
