Cerberus Sniper/Sneaky Dude

« on: November 29, 2010, 03:44:23 pm »

So I had been looking around for a SVD sniper for a few months to see what all was around. Found this gun on almost every site with really good reviews. Most of you have seen me with this gun at games already. So here is my opinion on it.

The A&K SVD is a very well put together gun. It's all metal, inside and out, except for the synthetic stock. This gun is LIGHT, I'm talking almost as light as my M4. You can run with this gun and not kill yourself. The mag isn't tight but it isn't loose either and there is a trick to loading it correctly without breaking the small nozzle. The gun takes AEG springs instead of the sniper springs so you have an abundance of upgrades available there. Inner barrel is extremely long, 630-650 mm long. Out of the box with .20s it is supposed to shoot 400 FPS, but mine was hitting 370-380 consistantly. It is very accurate with the iron sights which can be sighted in further then the gun can even shoot. Now putting a scope on this gun and many like it requires either dishing out $150+ for a PSO-1 or PSOP scope or using one of your own and a AK mounting bracket that cost about $15. Since I was 1 month late ordering mine, A&K had discontinued the version with a real wood stock. But you can solve that with either a fake wood or real wood stock for about $20-50. This gun after putting a decent scope on it, sighting it in, right BB weight(I used .36), and getting the hop up just right can hit at 250-300ft. Not every time but at least 3 out of 5 from my tests. You can do a full upgrade to this gun in about 5 minutes. But as is out of the box, the spring is the only thing that really needs it.

All said and done, this gun is well worth the price. It's durable, light(unlike most snipers), accurate, and just looks amazing.

My only 2 complaints are:  1. that mags for this gun are HARD TO COME BY. The minute a site gets them in stock, they are gone withing a day it seems.  2. reloading this gun over and over and over will make your hand hurt. wear gloves, and if possible, some with some sort of padding on the palm.

So that's my look on it. A good sniper for a decent price. You will see nothing but good reviews on this gun everywhere i have looked. And i always have it with me at any event if you want to get a hands on look at one.

A sniper is at his most dangerous when the bullets stop flying, cause it's then that his enemies start coming out of their cover.

Break the chain of command, break their spirit, and then the leftovers will break themselves.
