Okay so I've noticed a few games with the eye pro listed at ANSI Z87.1-2003. Now I do not trust the 2003 rating for airsoft and the reason is I test my eye pro by shooting it with my sniper (460-480 fps) and if it makes a small mark that wipes away I use them now every Z87.1-2003 rated glasses I've tried this with has dented them and I would not trust that at all I understand that we have MED to add more safety but I still don't trust it. I use Winchester shooting glasses and they work great I've been shot in the middle of my eye and didn't even show a mark and they are $10 at walmart. I'm not saying don't use the 2003 rated ones I'm just giving ya'll my thoughts on them and that I would NEVER wear a pair for airsoft

According to the guideline, ansi rating is against shattering not denting, but you are onto a good system there, one which i use on every piece of eye pro i have (it started with the gas mask if yall remember that monstrosity). Also be aware all ansi ratings are not equal, some are for uv resistance, some for shattering, etc.. be sure what your rating means (google it if nothing else).. most of the time shooting and saftey glasses are shatter rated, not to be confused with lower quality "shatter resistant" models (sunglasses). also, i highly reccomend full seal goggles,  but hey, its your eyes Wink

I use the same glasses harbinger, i learned the hard way what happens when a 350+ fps bb hits your eye  Tongue Yeah, tore my cornea and now have a small cataract in my right eye. But again I use the winchester because of price and I like a full field of view, full face masks just limit my view.  Wink

If your concerned about them shattering got look into ESS. They are used in the military and if you have glasses like I do, you can get an insert for the goggle or the glasses. They can take a hit, mine have been hit several times and no even a mark. they cost a little more but lets face it, when it comes to your eyes, and you want to keep them, you will spend the extra to protect them.

A sniper is at his most dangerous when the bullets stop flying, cause it's then that his enemies start coming out of their cover.

Break the chain of command, break their spirit, and then the leftovers will break themselves.

I use mesh because it dont fog. Also, ive been shot point blank with a 400 fps+ gun, and it only left a small dent.

I understand how the rating is for shattering not denting but I look at it like this if it dents its gonna weaken it which is very unsafe cause imagine getting shot in glasses multiple times in the same area so mainly I'm just trying to add what I've learned and add a word of caution to it cause eye pro is the most important piece of gear and if its not 100% you've got a problem

Aha, i found out that ansi rating for impact is based on a single strike. So, its hard to tell just from the ansi rating how multiple impacts would weaken or affect the lens.. when all else fails.. go for military grade stuff
