Ok.  Good stuff guys but Here's more info:

1. This "cannon" would be mounted on an ACV (airsoft combat vehicle).  It'll be about 6 feet long.
2.  I never said PVC!! lol geez!  I'm not THAT crazy!  Think more song the lines of a shampoo bottle.
3.  I'm losing interest....  :|  too tired and hungry.  Sad.   More later...

why not just get a cannon and stuff some wadding down into it, about 300 .12 bbs, and some more wadding, and fire it.

and it could be propane or co2 powered. just get a big tank connected to a resovoir. open the connection between the tank and resovoir until a pressure gauge gets to a certain level. the have a lever to throw to get the gas to rush out of the resovoir, into a rubber hose, and then into the cannon.

and if you knew how to, have a metal piece that is round, and runs on 4 tracks on the inside of the barrel, but is stopped at the end of it. that way, you could fire anything, and just have to ram the metal piece back down and load the ammo. this would be good for a shoulder mounted one, with a backpack that holds the tank(s)

or failing that, have some way to load it in the back of it, like they do in the video blaze posted, which might be better for a vehicle mounted one.

Like i said before, i think he is wanti g standoff detonation instead of the shotgun effect. I can see advantages in this because you could fire over friendlies head without having to worry about frienldly fire, also it would enable you to shoot over a barricade to get a group. As for the potato chukker, less parts=less crap to break

Cloak hits the nail on the head with this reply.  The idea is to get an aerial detonation.  The potato cannon style ignition is cheap, powerful, and reliable...albeit dangerous.  The power generated by the potato cannon ignition can be varied to suit different needs.

Bigjohn made a great point about flight stability.  It actually matters.  I'm thinking this MAY be remedied by making the projectile front-heavy.

Echo, your idea could spawn a whole new weapon.   It's effective, but no aerial detonation.

yeah. and i came up with another idea.

if the projectile was cut in half, and had a pointed tip, with nothing holding it together, wouldnt the air pressure hold it together until it slowed at the top of its arc? provided it fires hard enough in the first place.

Im gonna say if it did stay shut like that it would do so til it impaled its unfortunate target, although the bb resivoir makes me doubtfull that itd stay closed on launch.. dont underestimate a spud chukkr, weve made one launch a spark plug through plywood at 60 ft...

New idea, nerf ball.... stuff it into the bottom of a water bottle inside which is your bbs. Attach a monofilament line to the very bottom of this feeding from a fishing reel attached to the gun. Engaging the fishing reel should yank the bottle bottom off the nerfball and release the bbs. Then you reel back in the base and reload
