So leave it to Cybergun S.A.and FN Herstal to force the Shot Show to shut down Jag Precision and echo1 booth.

In the words of ARNIES AIRSOFT:
Quote
LAS VEGAS, NV: 19 January 2012
Thumpy’s 3D House of Airsoft has learned that SHOT Show officials are closing down the JAG Precision/ECHO 1 USA booth on the show floor, and are escorting company personnel from the site of the 2012 show over a temporary restraining order from CYBERGUN S.A. and FN Herstal.
The shutdown is allegedly resulting from not one but TWO lawsuits filed against JAG, first in Texas on January 10, and the second filed here in Nevada on the opening day of SHOT Show, January 17.  Online records from those filings allege Patent Infringment by the popular California-based airsoft business from the largest holder of airsoft licensing agreements in the world.
SHOT Show media representatives are working on a statement, but did confirm that the vendor was being closed down after General Counsel for the NSSF, presenters of the SHOT Show, were made aware of a temporary restraining order from CYBERGUN representatives on Friday morning.
At midday, the JAG Precision and ECHO 1 USA booth was screened off by curtains, as company personnel including wildly-popular American YouTuber Brian Holt, were tearing down their displays.  Security personnel would not allow accredited media representatives to ask questions of JAG officials inside the display, and referred all questions to the SHOT Show media office, where we have place a query for an official response from the NSSF General Counsel’s office.

Yeah cybergun has been doing this for some time.  Evidently they think they should be the only manufacturer.  They had a restraining order put in place the day before the shot show in Vegas court.  Evidently boycotts have been in place against Cybergun for some time.  I think its time to start boycotts and stick with them.  Like one guy said, "If Cybergun would focus there money on their guns and not on their lawyers, they might actually be able to compete with everyone."

Cybergun also Baught Spartin Imports, and trademarked the airsoft "Scar" no other companies can manufacture this weapon.  Echo 1 actually had a "working model" of a SCAR and that gave The officials at the shot show to be able to evict them for copywright infringement.  Its not just the restraining order that forced Echo 1 out trust me that would not be enough to evict them just move booths.. but anyways cybergun is possibly going to be getting more buisness now that they have aquired Spartin Imports.

Im actually suprised this has not happened more often.  Airsoft companies have been ripping off realsteel trademarks for years without permission.  They are really lucky that realsteel companies have not sued them into non-existence!

I attended the SHOT show 2 times in the 80's when i was a ffl holder.
Long before airsoft became popular.

I can say at that time the organizational body was professional and put on a great exhibition both times. Despite the efforts of the anti gun nuts.

This show attracts companies from all around the world, (all the US manufacturers both large and small,  from COLT & S&W to companies like Falcon firearms, they made .22 conversions for the most popular pistols (s&w 39-59 series, 1911's & browing Hi Powers)  ran by a great guy by the name of Dennis Lau,( i got a preproduction sample of the 59 series for my S&W as a free sample) and EA (Essential Arms from Krotz Springs La. i still deal with them today) Randal  firearms, they made the first TRUE left handed 1911 even the rifling was reversed so the gun would torque correctly for left handers, (companies you have probably never heard of.)

They give you a place to show case your products to an international market.

you get to meet and set up relations with companies like Antonio Zoli firearms from Italy, (one of their shot guns cost more than some cars). Lothar Walther barrels, (they sent me a free dealer sample for my ar-15) to evaluate before they put it into production.

Deals & agreements totaling in the MILLIONS of dollars are forged in these few days of the show.

I was wondering how airsoft was going to be received at this years show, as it has gained a lot of steam in this last year with Major manufacturers like Magpul, FN, HK, COLT and others actually LEGALLY endorsing the hobby by allowing their trades on the guns.

That being said, I AM a trades person, I like my stuff to look real, BUT i think the royalties should go directly to the companies being copied, and not some broker or middleman such as cybergun.

Now that they have heard of and actually endorse the airsoft guns, i don't have a problem with paying a little extra for the accurate trades.  If a plain sided non trademarked m4 is $200 I would pay the extra $20 for trades.

That way everyone wins, JG (or Dboys or VFC or who ever) can sell thousands of plain unmarked or their own company logo for a price, and sell a trademarked weapon for slightly more with the difference going to that trademark holder (Whether it is COLT, DPMS, BUSHMASTER, HK or S&W or PEPSI or COKE).

By some company ripping off someones name and not giving them credit for it makes the hobby look bad.

My question is what were they thinking?
Did they think FN would say "nice replica, thanks for putting my name on it, that should give you some credibility for that pot metal & plastic POS you are selling"

I hope the major real steel makers don't let this dampen their support of our hobby as I HOPE that some companies that want to lend their name to airsoft guns will make the manufacturers make better guns and more reliable (read that as sturdy materials not pot metal & ABS plastic) in order to keep the quality of the weapons above the others as with their real steel namesake.

Just my Thoughts.

After research, ive found that the issue is not just over trades, its over the fact that fn has patented the look and shape of the scar. This has been liscensed to cybergun to produce. In other words they dont want any other companies producing asr or scar clones.

Exactly coak thats what I said lol the good news about the future of Airsoft is that More and More "real steel" companies are liscensing and supporting Airsoft due to the training potential... What does that mean? More Airsoft with trademarks are on the way.
