So this is just to get a feeler for what people think about the M4.  I personally don't have any opinions about it but I would like to hear yours.

Why is the M4 the most common AEG?  Is it because it is easiest to produce? Is it because it is distinctly "American?" Is it because it is the most comfortable, accurate, or easily upgraded?

As a comment- I have owned and shot an M4 AEG.

Good question.  I would have to say it's because the m4 platform is the "small block Chevrolet" of the aeg world.  BECAUSE is so massed produced, the industry can offer more upgrades and accessories because it's so massed produced.  Ya get it?  It's a vicious cycle syndrome.  In popularity, it's the "Air Jordan sneakers" of the aeg world.  Johnny wants one because Timmy has one.  Another vicious cycle.  As far as the all- American aspect, didn't a guy named Eugene STONER develope it? I think it is so popular here in the US because its what our military use I would be curious to see what AEGs are popular in other countries and if it corresponds to what their military use.

I agree with both creeper and dynomut. I think most airsofters that lean to the milsim side, tend to pattern themselves after US military. Also, the m4 probably has the largest variety of upgrade and personalization options. Not to mention, it makes a good all around gun because of it's size and the expanding stock. you can make it short for cqb type stuff or normal for field play. The inner barrel is long enough that it can be used for some sniping(I know with my m4, I've sniped quite a few times) but short enough that it is very maneuverable. I think that is why it's so popular

In My opinion the amin reason why people get M-4 is that they are easily upgradable.  you can put any mock orreal steel part on. Acessories are very easy to get for the M-4 lights scopes, handguards, and so on.

I think most people buy it because everyone else has one so if it breaks, they can easily find someone who knows how to fix it.
