If and when we have another game that includes camping an event staffer will be on hand at all times to enforce safety and if necessary eject unsafe person or persons from the site.

Alright, well I've calmed down a bit. Sorry if any of my posts have come across as overly harsh for this game. I'm not one easily made upset and this single day wasn't near enough to cause all of the frustration. However, I did not want to just post, "Great game guys, I'll see you next time!" when there has been some flaws that really need fixing.

Proper communication will solve nearly all issues at these games.

The spies would of been fine with the slightest warning in fluff text in the description or something.

I didn't see anything wrong with how the bang rule was implemented, unless I missed something. But I was one of the ones in the base who got banged. No problem with that, was just frustrated with the spy situation.

I would really like to see future games go off better and I doubt I'll actually stay away for all that long, but I'm planning on waiting until some improvements are made.

I'd suggest more refs and walking admins to help answer questions in the field and solve any issue that might arise.
Setting up the chrono, waiver, and payment station at the entrance to the playing field. So that way everyone will gear up first then right before they are ready to head to their team's base, they take care of paperwork and such.

Nothing is wrong with having strict systems in place to make sure the things that need to be done, get done.

About the open ended play that was mentioned. That's a great way to look at it within the confines of the predetermined ruleset. Because I'm betting some of the people that intentionally don't call hits either think its funny or that they were the smart ones to wear "bullet proof" vests and such. That's them just being creative with how the game is set up, but it is still wrong unless rules state otherwise. Same goes for uniforms and any other super crazy ideas. If they go against the pre-set rules it isn't being smart or cunning, it's bending the rules to fit your views. This might work at small scales with friends but rules and guild lines have got to be followed as stated when a large number of strangers get together to play.

Again I'm sorry if I personally offended anyone, I do realize there were problems on all sides. I was just pointing out what I saw from my two eyes.

Clarification is in order.
1) the "hospital grenade spam w/e" comment was a joke. my apologies, i've never really been good at sarcasm.
I was not in the ring when the spy bang kill fest started to happen, but had I been in range I wouldn't have hesitated to blow the spies back to the stone age. Also, I was unaware that each person was individually banged, and thus I stand corrected on that.
2) I spent the morning re-prepping my gear as the make-shift sling for my grenade launcher wasn't working. A few times I asked the various admins where I needed to chrono my MP5 and hand in waivers/fees, but I only received answers to the waivers and fees part. Seeing as how I was running an m100 spring and a high-speed setup I assumed that I had a CQB weapon with a MED of 20 feet, same as my grenade launcher. Next time I simply won't make that assumption. My apologies for the confusion.
3) If the airsoft gun at the campfire being talked about is the 70 FPS springer that someone was slinging about, then yeah that was a bit of a breach of safety. Won't happen again.
4) Not going to change my position on the spy incident. Despite this being a "Military Simulation", we are not members of an elite fighting unit like a real-world military typically is. We don't know who is on our team due to having fought side by side with them for several months. We only know who they are based on whatever team identification is present. If it was intended from the beginning for there to be spies, it could have at least been hinted at in the briefing to get us paranoid.

to airforce:  i was only aware of several complaints about the uneven numbers and i knew dyno and crimson both said they would even them out at lunch. i was unaware of anything that happened after that as i left to buy more food and drinks for yall. me and dyno ate last as we walked towards the field. so i'm unaware of anything about the team change other than what they told me before lunch. To Barricade: i  saw no blue tie  straps and nobody gave me a verification of any sort, this is why i said that.

Thoughts from the new guy... this was my 1st real organized Airsoft Event.

Registration / Chrono went smooth. (1st guy in line)
Later I saw guys walking around with the blue zip ties, I knew what they were from the forums so I went back and got one from Barricade.
The zips were all over the place, check the pics online, you will see them.
My point on this is I am a new guy, I knew to get my gun chrono'd and I did. I knew to get a zip and I did.

Field was EXCELLENT. I enjoyed playing on the various terrain even though my legs are still complaining.

Medics/Respawn, my first game playing with medics but I didn't see any issues with it on the OPFOR side.

The complaints coming from the US side re: long distances etc... yeah it would have been next to impossible for them to take the first prison if they had to respawn back near the parking lot. Even if the there were even numbers. Solution? Forward ops bases, a flagpole on Hamburger hill that the team has to raise a flag to occupy. Creates a field hospital or whatever you want to call it, lets a side respawn there but also allows the other team to overrun it.

Numbers/uneven sides... was it that bad? I hear 2:1 tossed around but I didn't think it was 30 on 15, maybe it seemed that way with the respawn issues.

Bang Bang. First experience with this and I didn't care for it. If a guy was KILLING someone within 10-15 feet of me with a pistol I think I would know about it. Or one of my buddies would know about it. You would not have 2 guys taking out 20. It would not happen.  Now, if said guy was a suicide bomber I could understand, not two guys with pistols.

Eye protection. Wow, I saw problems with folks raising goggles/glasses all over the place. My background in all of this is with paintball, played for many years and reffed at a field for many. Under no circumstances should googles/glasses be raised. If you fog up, wiggle your fingers in there, but don't expose your eyes. I repeatedly told a guy that he needed to keep his googles down, his response was a frustrated 'But they are fogged!' I watched him huff into his googles to try to clear them. I offered to help him with his goggles at lunch, I had anti-fog in my truck. Later in the day I saw him running around with shooting glasses instead of the googles, he had them on his forehead.

I am not a member of the staff, but I feel safety on the field is up to the players. If we don't want refs running around enforcing rules we need to try to police our own.
In this case I brought the issue up to the staff and found somewhere away from this guy to play.

All in all I had a great time, I will be back and should have friends with me next time.

p.s. next time, more hamburger buns. us big boys need our carbs.  Grin

ok, so since i managed to find a way to get on here, heres my review

Ok i will admit the us spawn was just....well far away, and i can see how that slowed progress towards the first objective. As far as the spy thing.... well to tell the truth i didnt even know it happened till lunch, in my opinion PROPS to the guys for hopping into a big hornets nest with that. some clue to this could have been handy over the comms for opfor though..... as far as meds, i should apologize for the majority of the trails in the swamp where ppl were getting peppered, we cut them fairly fast and with the terrain.... they will make great cqb areas during the summer however.  as far as the respawn for opfor, i was working on my gun during the briefing for that, sorry guys.....  mainly i got ticked at....myself, first for not noticing a spy in DIGITAL camo in my own base and also for letting guys get behind and in front of me at several times... the game itself had a tensity to it in my opinion, this probably being from the fact that it was the firse big op since october and also the warm weather (spring feaver anyone?).

so now comes the advice i would make,
1 "field Hospitals"  we are allowed with medics, 1 hit and then go to respawn on the 2nd. in the case that we need a closer spawn, the team will have 2 medics form a field hospital that can heal a player up to 4 times, after which they must respawn again. also the hospital should have some sort of flag in a tree or on a pole with a red cross indicating a hospital and a no shoot zone just as the area adjacent to a spawn should be.
2 the swamp is for cqb..... self explanatory... i promise you wont find me and my m14 or m60 behind a log down there (not that id fit anyhow)
3 Spies... ok here is one of the big contentions... this is perfectly acceptable to me, as long as some message either in the briefing or over in game comms alerts both sides to it, props to barricade for thinking this up
4 uniform regs.... ok i have the shemagh, but i understand for those who dont, however, make an effort to have something that looks like what you are required to have (i have used a towel as a shemagh) as far as how its worn.... just make it obvious... i personaly cant wear a wrap on my head because of my glasses and the fogging it causes...

and finaly my statement
I play because i like it, and see it as a hobby. this isnt a profession, here if you die all you hafta do is walk a few yards and live again, conduct yourself as you would like others to conduct theirselves.. if they do something wrong (as in not calling hits) oh well. thats between them and their own conscience (to alleviate this just keep shooting them... thats what always works for me).  everyone cant be a hero, then there would be noone to stand on the sidewalk and wave as the parade passes...

i had an absoutely wonderful time at this op, and am planning one for the future, looking forward to seeing all my fellow airsofters soon upon fields of valor

In that situation, you should play as US then because if it's around your neck and you are wearing a hat, it looks like you are playing as a US person. If there is an aspect of one specific side that you can't meet, switch sides

theres also diferent ways that you can wear a shemaghe, in the standard wrap it can serve 3 purposes: full mask, hood and collar. Pulling the hood back over your head and using it in the collar setup would have been sufficient to stop serious fogging.

QFT. Theres a variety of ways to wear it, try wearing it like a giant headband across your temples like I was. No fog problems at all, and it's still blatantly obvious that I was taliban
